is a sound performance by the artist Yoichi Kamimura
. Kamimura, whose installation Phantom Power
is part of From Seeing to Acting
, will play sounds with materials such as a laptop, melting ice, and water. Sounds will include drift ice, voices of the ribbon seal under drift ice, breath from people in Shiretoko, Hokkaido, Japan, and Amazonian creatures. Ecotherapy
was originally conceived by Kamimura for his installation work Floating Between the Tropical and Glacial Zones
(2021) in Tokyo.
Kamimura collaborated with Seiha Kurosawa, who researched the Amazon in Brazil. Floating Between the Tropical and Glacial Zones
explores a new ecological perspective by colliding the environments of drift ice of the Sea of Okhotsk and the Amazon rainforest into an installation from the point of view of thermodynamics between the tropical and glacial zones.
