Nicolas Sassoon’s work has long been concerned with the tensions between the pixel and the screen,reflecting on their entanglement and materiality by constraining himself to experiment with pixelatedpatterns and figures ashissole visual language.Thisfocus on early computer graphics is driven by thesculptural, material and pictorial qualities of this imagery, as well as its limitations and its poetics.Sassoon’swork often explores the projective dimensions of screen-based space, and how the digital image can expressdimensions of the physical realm.While most of his output is published online, Sassoon also materializes hisweb-based practice into a wide range of Medias.His research often leads him to engage in cross-disciplinaryprojects in the fields of architecture, electronic music, textiles, and art.Nicolas is currently based inVancouver BC Canada; he is a co-founder of the collaborative projects SIGNALS and W-A-L-L-P-A-P-E-R-S.
